Toposcope

Toposcope is an open model for gathering and developing topical notes and articles, inspired by concepts of 'topoi' (place, or conceptual commonplace, from classical rhetorical thinking), Renaisssance commonplace books, wikis, etc. A literal 'Toposcope' is a physical display, such as shown in the header, erected at a viewing point, which indicates the direction, and usually the distance, to notable landscape features.

I'm live-prototyping this with my own noting and writing purposes/materials. However, in contrast to comparable "second brain" tools/platforms, this is conceived around and fundamentally designed for shared/shareable knowledge, i.e. a common landscape of knowledge and concerns. [analogous to how rhetorical topoi are developed for communicative purpose].

Related to that common-landscape goal, Toposcope also aims to be platform-independent, i.e. mostly practices which could be done on and bridged between various platforms or tools, including free or open-source ones. This includes physical e.g. paper-based practices for notetaking, writing, etc, which I consider integral to this project and explore in sub-project Toponote(s).
